Yamaha acoustic-electric guitars have always used piezoelectric pickups for repdoduce pure sound of the acoustic guitar. But piezoelectric pickups tend to overreact to changes in the attack, which in turn caused the distortion. To achieve the ideal playability, we had to improve the way these dynamics have been controlled. To provide a solution to this problem has been designing new pickup with a multilayer structure composed of six layers of different materials. This dampens the vibrations of topboard while picking up small resonances to achieve ideal sensitivity and excellent dynamic balance. Also, because the microphone is directly topboard fi saturated, it acts as a transducer attached to the body.

In addition to two main microphones mounted under the saddle, this system has one of each on the bass and treble sides to catch the vibrations of the entire length of the strings and body, and the bass and treble components. The microphones are placed so as to obtain a clear reproduction even solo position.

It offers separate controls for the main microphone and two (bass and treble). It also has volume control to adjust the output level of fi nal. The preamplifier has only four controls on the body to minimize the impact on the body resonance. These push-push buttons fi t in the body when not in use.
